and another year has passed! :p

Yes, it's October once again dear readers! Do this barely updated wedding blog still has readers? Haha! Anyway, as per tradition, here's a "quick" round-up of our wedding anniversary celebration this year :)

The girls woke us up at 530am (gahhh) and we had no choice but to wake up also and prepare breakfast~ using *just* a microwave. The result? A surprisingly good fritatta! Then it was time for an early morning swim around 630. Thank god the water was not cold! Hihi!

(MIDDLE PICS) 9am: mass in SM Lanang Premier atrium then off to the Exotic Animals Encounter in the musical fountain grounds! Will make another Instagram post on this as we have lots of pics of the exotic animals. Yes, that's a humongous tarantula above! And there were a LOT of them!!

11am: early lunch in Cellar de Boca where we had our Salutti fave, beef salpicao. Still sooo garlicky good and tender! CdB is owned by the same team behind Salutti in Rizal St :) Another must-try #WhenInDavao so don't miss it! The one pictured above isn't the salpicao but the cheery-looking Arroz ala Cubana, hihi! Sorry! Then we were off to SM Science and Discovery Center's planetarium show "Universe". Needless to say, there were a lot of "wows" from the girls The center has been renamed Exploreum. Aside from SM Lanang, there's one in SM Mall of Asia too.

(BOTTOM PICS) 1pm: back to Crown Regency Residences for the kids' naptime (and ours too! haha). This is where we stayed for 3d/2n for our anniversary staycation Around 4pm, my baby nephew dropped by and the kids went swimming again :) For dinner, my in-laws treated us to Buffet Palace (where they also celebrated a colleague's birthday; that's their pic above) in Victoria Plaza. And to my surprise, my dear friend back in med school was there! Hi Dax!! It was great seeing you again!! Yes that's our selfie above, hihi!

Trivia: BP is the first buffet restaurant in Davao City. There's a lot more buffets here now but the resto still has loyal patrons. Also, VP is Davao's first mall! It opened when I was still in grade6, imagine that!

To cap off our busiest day ever, my BFF and her fam dropped by our hotel room. My girls and her kid, of course, played and played while us moms were busy trading chikas. Hihi! And to answer your unasked question, no, hubby and I didn't have any romantic date to celebrate our anniversary at all. LOL! But that's just fine. There's a season for everything and right now, it's the season to enjoy our young daughters..

hello October!!

October has always been a big month for our family ~ it's the time when we celebrate our wedding anniversary, our couple anniversary, and hubby's birthday ^__^ For the past four years, we celebrate October by traveling. On our first year (2009), we went to Hong Kong and Macau. I was 4 months pregnant with our first child then. On our second year (2010), we went to Taipei; this time with a 6 month old baby in tow. It still remains as our best family vacation! Good food, good people, cheap prices. Gotta love Taiwan! :)

On our third year (2011), I was 4 months pregnant with our second child while taking care of a hyperactive 18-month old. This time we didn't travel outside of the country (have to save money for my second delivery) and opted to just have a staycation in Ortigas ~ a new place for us to hang out in Manila as we often stay in Makati. Little did we know that our Ortigas vacay is a preparation for our new life come October 2012. God really has a funny way of giving you a glimpse of His plans for your life ;-)

And so on our fourth year (2012), we now have two kids! One 6-month old baby and one 30-month old toddler. Also, hubby quit his job in Davao, and accepted a job in Manila. And that was how we came to have a looooong "vacation" in Ortigas ~ we actually moved to a condo near hubby's office and lived on our own for 6 months. No parents, in-laws, yayas to help us. My bro and his family was in nearby Taguig though so we still had family bonding :) By far, this "family vacation" had been the one with most lessons ~ mostly how to survive Manila (lol) and keeping your marriage intact even though you're very haggard from watching the kids and doing housework. The hard work was all worth it though! Our family of 4 is now tough as nails :p

One week from now, Labsie and I will celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary (2013). No travel plans this time, not even to Manila, as our finances are a bit tight. Who knew that tuition fee for toddlers are as much as 40k a year?!! Migosh! And we have 2 kids! And so, most of our hard-earned money this year went to kids' education fund. None went to our travel fund, boohoo! So what are our romantic anniversary plans given we're "stranded" in Davao? We'll probably eat out (fine dining perhaps?), catch a movie (in the luxurious GMall cinema), have some time off from the kids, be (just) a couple once again.. I just hope hubby has extra money for all of these! Haha!

13 years of US ^__^

Unlucky 13? Nahh, more like whirlwind 13! ;-) I know I have not been updating this blog for quite some time now and it's all because of our hectic family life. After 4 years of marriage, we now have two kids-- and one is in her terrible twos stage. If you're a parent, you know what this entails, hehe! Also, we have just relocated temporarily to our country's capital. No family to help us with the kids, and no helpers or nannies as well. Between the 2 kids, the big move, and settling in, I really have no time to blog.

But just for today, I'll forgo a few minutes of sleep and blog! Why? Because today is our 156th couple monthsary a.k.a. 13th anniversary of our bf-gf relationship-- hurray for us! ^__^ And since my parents are not around to babysit our kids, we just brought them along to our dinner date earlier this evening (second pic: the collage). Yeah, not really very romantic, hehe! But it's all good coz we had an awesome fourth wedding anniversary a week ago sans the kids (first pic). See how beautiful we look? That's because we didn't have kids to watch over / feed / entertain while we reconnected as husband and wife :)

To my Labsie, my husband and father of my babies, I love you! Here's to more monthsaries and happy years together!

we're having a second baby!!

As you can see, I'm still addicted to Google Plus. If you haven't joined already, do so now! It's a great place to connect with people who have the same interests as you :) If you're planning a wedding, looking for wedding suppliers and wedding inspiration, you can find like-minded people in G+. And since this is powered by Google, the search function is awesome!! Try this one for an awesome pink wedding <-- click!

But I digress.. The main point of this post is to announce our second pregnancy ;-) Yep, we're pregnant again folks!! That explains my lack of updates the past few weeks (along with my G+ addiction) as I was in the first trimester, i.e. nausea and dizziness whole day and night *sigh* BUT, that's all over now! I'm now in the second trimester and full of energy so hopefully I can blog more :)

join me in Google+ :)

Sorry I have been MIA for the past 2 months. I've been busy with the newest social network in the block -- Google Plus! We also call it Google+ and G+ :) It was in closed beta (invite-only) since June 28, 2011 but this week, it opened to the public. Thus, here I am inviting you to join the world's best (IMHO) social network! See you there! ^__^

Birthday Challenge Day 30 :)

Hehehe! :p Seriously, you can tell who I am by going here: gplus.to/melissasolito ^__^ Everything that I am is on the right side of the ABOUT page. Thanks for being with me the past 30 days! Can't believe I finished a 30-day blogging challenge.. I hope it's a sign that I'm now able (and mature enough) to finish projects in a timely manner now that I'm 30 years old, married, and a mother to one toddler ;-) Thanks again Wilkin for coming up with this 30-Day Challenge!

Birthday Challenge Day 29

My first immediate goal is to wean Iya, she has been breastfeeding (BF) for 16 months now and showing NO signs of slowing down! Which is weird since she's *finally* okay drinking non-human milk (from cup) and eats solid food very well. I don't know if she's just clinging to BF for comfort or she's just simply not yet ready to wean (I believe in baby-led weaning). This first goal of mine is the most important coz I can't proceed to my other future goals if this is not done.

After Iya is weaned, I will *finally* go into residency ~ this is the specialty training for medical doctors that usually lasts for 3-5 years, depending on the hospital and type of specialty chosen. I love anything related to the human nervous system (brain, spinal cord, etc) and would love to be a neurologist! But since I'm a very hands-on type of mom, I have to find a less busy / toxic / stressful specialty to train in so I would have time to be with Iya during her childhood :)

My ultimate goal is to keep our family intact, stay happily married to Labsie and to see Iya grow up to be a beautiful person inside and out. My other plans include going to space (!!!), go on a Disney cruise with my family, travel to the Old World and have enough money to pig out on their gustatory delights. YUM! Hehe!

Birthday Challenge Day 28!

This is easy! Hehe! Physically, I really like guys with big and brooding eyes, the kind that draws you in their depths. Labsie's eyes are like that, hehe! A strong looking body (but not really muscled) and nice smile also attracts me. But what attracts me most to a guy is his gift of gab, i.e. he can hold long-winded conversations with me. The topics? Anything under the sun! I don't like one-trick pony guys, like jocks who only talk about sports or nerds who just talk about books. I want to talk about anything and everything so it's best if you have many interests and passions ^__^
