Kung Hei Fat Choi!

That's Happy Chinese New Year to you! =) I'm part Chinese (my maternal grandfather was a full-blooded Chinese) and though we don't really practice the usual Chinese traditions, we *sort of* celebrate their New Year. In line with that, we also *sort of* practice Feng Shui when it's not impractical to do. Nothing to lose right? =) Here are some Feng Shui tips for your wedding. The tips in red were the ones we followed. Let's see if we'll really have our happily ever after! Hehe!

Wedding gown colour: a color representing the element earth, such as very light beige gown or a cream color, would attract good luck and therefore would be ideal for your dress.

The colour red: Red is the color of happiness, and you would be attracting it by wearing at least one small detail in that color. (Our motif was red and pink and I wore a red gown for the wedding reception).

Wedding Date: Ideally, your wedding date should contain the numbers 8 or 9, or its digits should add one of those numbers. According to feng shui and ancient Chinese traditions, the number 8 is very auspicious for love, and number 9 implies eternity. The most ideal date would be an 18th, since it would contain both numbers, but also a 17th, a 26th, a 27th, an 8th or a 9th would be very auspicious dates.

Reception Decorations: there should not be any dark spots or corners or this would become an obstacle for chi or life energy to flow freely.

Reception Table Shape: The tables' shape is very important as well. You should try to avoid square or rectangular tables, since edges and cutting shapes attract conflict and problems. Instead, you should choose round tables or oval; they would add harmony to the environment and the people in it.

Something borrowed, something blue, something old, something new: If you're going to observe the "Something borrowed, something blue, something old, something new" tradition, make sure that anything you acquire is from a person who has enjoyed a happy marriage (my Mom!).

Three-tiered cake: if you want an adventurous marriage where you will grow and learn together, choose a 3-tiered wedding cake, which represents the rising energy of wood.

Square cake: For a stable marriage, pick a square cake, which symbolizes the nurturing energy of earth.

Round Cake: A round cake is perfect for people who want lots of children or are very artistic, because circles represent the creative principle of metal.

FUNNY husband tips ;-)

What Labsie wrote last week was nice but really, can husbands do all the stuff he wrote?? I think not! LOL! Not that I don't have faith in the other sex but you know how guys are, they read it and they forget it. But when it comes to jokes, they will remember it ;-) So here's more tips for husbands who wish to live a life of bliss with their wives --

DANGEROUS: What's for dinner?
SAFER: Can I help you with dinner?
SAFEST: Where would you like to go for dinner? 

DANGEROUS: Are you wearing THAT?
SAFER: Gee, you look good in brown.
SAFEST: Wow! Look at you! 

DANGEROUS: What are you so worked up about?
SAFER: Could we be overreacting?
SAFEST: Here's fifty dollars. 

DANGEROUS: Should you be eating that?
SAFER: You know, there are a lot of apples left.
SAFEST: Can I get you a glass of wine with that? 

DANGEROUS: What did you DO all day?
SAFER: I hope you didn't overdo today.
SAFEST: I've always loved you in that robe.

10 GREAT tips for husbands!

Happy new year everybody! We just spent our first Christmas and New Year together as husband and wife -- and it felt just right! =) I can't say it was awesome coz I had work the entire Christmas vacation while my wife was stressed with buying Christmas gifts. Women! *shakes head* Anyway here are some things I learned as a husband. This is based on a book by How To Be The Almost Perfect Husband: By Wives Who Know (J.S. Salt / Joel Saltzman). Enjoy and LEARN fellow husbands!

1. Listen, listen, listen! Put down that newspaper (or TV remote) and let her know your focus is on her.

2. When she tells you her problems, try not to to jump in with advice. A sympathetic ear may be all she needs.

3. Schedule a date with her once a week. And it doesn't have to be expensive. The goal is simply to create time for just the two of you.

4. Surprise her with little things that show your affection - a note, a funny card, a small gift, flowers for no reason. She needs to feel you're thinking of her.

5. Do little day-to-day things that make her feel taken care of - like filling her empty water glass, bringing her coffee in bed or turning down her side of the bed if you go to sleep before her.

6. Connect with her physically during the day. Kiss her when you wake up, hold her hand sometimes, touch her in non-sexual ways. She'll be nicer to you and your sex life will improve.

7. Let the kids be your responsibility now and then. That way, she'll get some time for herself for a change.

8. Respect her. Don't make fun of her or berate her just because she doesn't think the same way you do.

9. When you're angry or upset, tell her why. Don't make her guess.

10. Compliment her. And tell her you love her - at least once a day.
